Observation

Image
Hey, Sparkles here… (a.k.a. Sparkplug, Plug, Fur-person)… I have observed lately that we are either in an Ice-Age, or we moved to the Arctic and I was not aware of the move.  Don't get me wrong, I like the cold, I Love to play in the snow, but these bitter temperatures make my paws hurt, and my humans take Very Short walks - cause they don't like it either.   My observation for the day is this:  Old Man Winter (whoever that is), well, he just better go back where he came from, or I'm gonna have to get ruff with him!  And I am very eager for Mother Nature to get in a better mood too…. (another person I hear the humans mention).   Do ya think if I share my toys with these two that our weather will return to normal?  Send 'em over, and I'll give it a try.  In the meantime Keep Warm!!!

Here's a reminder... Spring is not far away.

Winter has shown us it is still in charge. Snow, cold, icy wind, more sub-zero temps. It's not letting up. My message today:  think warm, Spring is not far away. Soak in the beauty of  this simple rose, and smile, knowing Mr. Winter will go away.

Glorious Sunrise!

Image
Sunrise is fascinating to me. Always unique. Occasionally demure and overcast. Other times it hits you like a firecracker.  Whatever I have planned for my day, I try to take time to enjoy the sunrise. Such a simple, quiet event, yet so important. Colors can vary from yellow-orange, to purple and pink. When that fireball peeks over the horizon it seems as a verification of life itself: here I am, what are you going to do about it?  Spend the day wisely, or sleep it away? This morning was crisp and cold. Frost gathered on every leaf and twig in the forest. Animals awoke with bright rays illuminating the world. Sharp pinpoints reaching from treetops to frozen puddles. Get up, get out, expand your thoughts.  Carry the joy of sunrise in your heart and feel a warmth of living that is unexplainable.  When people ask why you are so happy, just smile and invite them to the wondrous event the next morning. Psalm 59:16 NIV But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of

Happy 60th Anniversary to #419 Boy Scouts and Super Bowl Sunday

Image
Today I had the pleasure of doing photos for the 60th Anniversary for Boy Scout Troop #419, Arnold, Mo.  There were 21 Eagle scouts there, and over 300 people (parents, grandparents, kids) celebrating with a nice banquet.  What a wonderful institution.  So many thoughtful folks helping boys to men - accomplish good with their lives. I was in Junior Girl Scouts and I just loved it.  I still remember some of the things we were taught: like how to tie knots, make a campfire, and crafts.  Mainly I think we learned to work together. This is so important in life.  Getting along with others, helping fellow man.  If a youngster can learn this early, it becomes a way of life. We do not know what our future will bring. But if we learn right from wrong, most likely our lives will be filled with happiness and joy, and head in a good direction.  I was blessed with parents that cared to teach me good.  Also I learned from my grandparents.  We went to Sunday School and church regularly… so ver

Guess I will have to write extra blogs to catch up for not writing in January. …. so I am going to let Sparkplug write a few…. gotta watch her, she Loves snow, and likes to hog the blog…  Lol.  She just loved the "big snow" we had in January… about 12".  Here she is….      well, it's about time my mom let me write again. I have all these thoughts jammed up in my fur person brain, and Finally a venue to let them out to the World!  My human family is so kind. CC got me a cool coat with a fur collar and everything.  Mom made tracks with her 4x4 truck so I could walk in the snow without getting my belly cold (oh, don't ya just hate when that cold belly thing happens?)…      I love playing in the snow.  Don't understand why mom doesn't like to play out in the sub-zero temperatures….  well, Tom does, and I love him for walking me and playing.  My canine sisters: Tessa, Sassy and Lucy always want to come inside the house and cannot understand why I wan

~~ New Year ~~ New Day ~~ New Beginnings ~~

Took this photo in December at a cemetery in Arnold, Mo.  What a sight to see.  God's wondrous artwork with a beautiful sunset. Almost like a symbol of the "sunset" of 2013.  It was a good / bad year.   Great year with my love:  Tom.  We did many, many fun things…. and… he surprised me on Christmas Day by proposing on bended knee, with a beautiful ring he chose himself.  Wow, life is amazing!…… of Course I said "Yes" !!!!!   I am so blessed.      Highlight of my summer '13:   Autumn spent about 7 or 8 weeks with me while her mom worked.  We did a bunch of things: both fun, and work (she is 12, but is a Really hard worker!).  She is our "adopted" granddaughter.  What a blessing with a lovely young lady.      Not-so-good 2013:  started in January healing from 2 cracked ribs (due to coughing from pneumonia).  Another bout of pneumonia in April. And in October, found out I have a prolapsed heart valve with regurgitation. ( part of va
